Allan Vann is a senior majoring in Community, Environment, and Planning with a minor in Global Health. After spending a majority of his life in rural southwestern Washington in a town that did not even have stoplights, the move to University of Washington Seattle helped shaped his interests and allowed him to gain a deep appreciation for urban life. His academic focus is in community engagement and participatory design, especially in terms of tactical urbanism placemaking strategies and overall civic engagement. Promoting community-based tactical urbanism strategies is the focus of his senior project. Allan also has a passion for healthy cities, whether that is through healthy design guidelines or improving access to healthcare. Allan’s past projects have included compiling placemaking strategies for the City of Auburn, and event coordination and management for Feet First.
