Derek Dragseth is a senior majoring in Community, Environment, and Planning while also minoring in French. Derek is a part of the Outreach and Admission committee, which works toward recruitment and admission of new students to CEP.
This last summer, Derek stayed in the city of Seattle working and taking summer classes, including a class in the Jackson School studying the geopolitics of energy, and a class in the Department of Anthropology researching the comparative study of death.
Derek also recently just finished a yearlong internship with the Catholic Newman Center at the University of Washington, in which he he learned about the inner workings of a non profit organization. Despite the internship ending, Derek continues to volunteer there today, running a weekly youth group focused on providing a community to freshman students.
For his senior capstone this year, Derek plans to create an on campus student organization focused at alleviating loneliness of patients in the University of Washington Medical Center.
