Melissa Torres

Originally from Orange County, California, Melissa has grown to love the climate and lifestyle of the Pacific Northwest. She moved to Seattle seven years ago to continue her career in hairstyling when she discovered she had a greater passion for the built environment. This inspired her to go back to school to pursue an education in Urban Planning. Melissa is now a senior at the University of Washington in the CEP program.. Within the program, she has a more personalized focus on Urban Design, Landscape Architecture, and Community Outreach. She is currently working with nonprofit organizations Capitol Hill Ecodistrict and International Future Living Institute for her senior project. The goal of the project it to develop a sidewalk redesign concept for a block in the Capitol Hill neighborhood to add more green space to a very dense urban area.
