Helen Ganahl

Growing up in small town Eastern California, Helen’s inquiries into the meaning of nature and community began at a young age. Over the years, she has taken herbalism and permaculture courses, traveled, volunteered, worked in restaurants, and received an Associates degree (Sustainable Agriculture Education Emphasis) from Seattle Central College. At the UW, she intends to partner with community organizations through CEP, minor in ecological restoration, and expand her writing practice. Helen is interested in the ways people modify landscapes, while protecting and restoring ecosystems and biodiversity in the era of climate change. She holds the intersection of environmental, social, and food justice to be of utmost importance.
